After my last post I couldn't help myself looking up more Rosie pics. She is everything I (and every other girl on the planet) wants to look like. 


On my travels I came across the coveted 'Pirelli Calendar'. For those who have never set eyes on such a thing. Prepare to be amazed. Whether you're into fashion, girls, cars or photography there's something here to interest you!


The calendar is famous for its limited availability because it is not sold and is only given as a corporate gift to a restricted number of important Pirelli customers and celebrity VIPs. The Pirelli Calendar is perhaps the world's only prestigious and exclusive "girly" calendar, featuring pictures generally considered glamour photography including artistic nudes.


Appearance on the calendar has become a mark of distinction for those photographic models that are chosen, as well as for the photographers commissioned to produce the images used. Over the years the supermodels and celebrities who have appeared have included Sienna Miller, Naomi Campbell, Eva Riccobono, Malgosia Bela, Gisele Bündchen, Emanuela de Paula, Sonny Freeman Drane,Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Selma Blair, Lauren Bush, Elsa Benitez, Laetitia Casta, Milla Jovovich, Doutzen Kroes, Heidi Klum, Sophia Loren, Penélope Cruz,Karolina Kurkova, Caroline Trentini, Raica Oliveira, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Bridget Moynahan, Shannyn Sossamon, Mena Suvari, Monet Mazur, Aurelie Claudel,Fernanda Tavares, Isabeli Fontana, Frankie Rayder and Angela Lindvall

GIRL POWER - Paula Thomas

London Fashion Week has welcomed the return of Paula Thomas and her label 'Thomas Wylde'. 

Paula started out in the fashion industry in 1984 when she became a model in London, where her image was captured by world-renowned photographers in pages of glossies such as Vogue, The Face and Elle. It was during her time modelling that she met designer Julian MacDonald and from then on became his muse. Paula co-designed collections, produced fashion shows and dressed celebrities with Julian. After 5 years of hard work it was Paula, who's fierce creativity and business skills saw MacDonald's sales increase rapidly and in 1999 Paula orchestrated Julian's position as top designer at Givenchy.


In 2003 Paula launched her own label Thomas Wylde.

After making the big time in LA, London has now welcomed her back for her 10th season anniversary. To mark the occasion Paula has created a lookbook showcasing 10 different moods which have inspired her collections. Styled by Maryam Malakpour and modelled by the beautiful Rosie Huntington Whitely.


I'm not sure who I'm most envious of? The designer, the stylist or the model?!!

On my hunt for new jewellery I came across the works of Hafsteinn Juliusson. His words not mine

'Growing Jewelry is a redefinition of modern

values. It is a clash of jewelry and gardening

;couture and organism. The collection of this

hand jewelry is designed for people in 

metropolitan cities and is an experiment in 

drawing nature toward man, as nature being

the presupposition of life.'

I kind of love it and hate it all at the same time. Who knew that someday we might be tending to our knuckledusters?

SUNDAY CIRCUS INNIT

Other than rolling about in the Sub Club my second love is for Sunday Circus. I've been attending them for 3 years which makes me a veteran a suppose. I have fond, slightly hazy memories of dancing away the day and night within the intimate 4 walls of the courtyard. I like to think of it as a kind of secret(ish) society of party people. It's a pretty badly kept secret since it has become so well established but the regular return of faces keeps me satisfied knowing that it is still fairly underground.

The Courtyard Bar on West Nile Street was the mothership for Sunday all dayers up until a few weeks ago when it sadly closed and was sold onto new management. I wouldn't recommend going for a visit...it is beyond bad.

Will the show still go on? Ehhh yes.

The combined creative minds of organisers and djs Dave Talbot, David Liddel, Ronnie Muirhead, Max Raskin and Tricky have lead us to venues like the Grand Ol Opry, Classic Grand, SWG3, the rooftop, the Renfrew Ferry and now more recently the Arc.

This months venue is a mystery oooooooooooooooohhh! All we know is that we have to get a bus to a secret countryside location on the 26th September. The lineup so far looks very healthy with DC-10 headliner Davide Squillace with Slam and residents playing from 4pm-?

If you snooze you loose so get a ticket and stop yer moaning if you didn't.

BIBA IS BACK

Barbara Hulanicki's iconic brand of the 60's ands 70's has relaunched in a House of Frazers near you. The A/W collection pays homage to Hulaniki's designs but strangely enough she has not been involved with any of the current lines. 

In keeping with Biba’s dramatic art nouveau logo, and heritage, the Luxe trend has been created in Biba’s iconic black and gold palette. This range has a clear sixties influence from leopard print coats to floor skimming maxi dresses. 

A modern update comes in the form of embellished knits and on trend trouser shapes, such as the velvet hareem. 

Daisy Lowe has been made the new face of Biba. Jealous, me? Yes.

I got myself the black feathered jacket which I wore to this years Scottish Event Awards. It was love at first sight. The dress is vintage from 'Mr Bens' in Glasgow, Shoes are 'Bertie' from House of Frazer.

SUB CLUB LOVE

I started out as the marketing manager of the Sub Club in Glasgow a year ago today :)

It feels like a lifetime ago that I first tread the floor of the club as a keen 19 year old from a small town in  Galloway.

I remember the atmosphere feeling like every week was New Years Eve! It obviously left an impression on me as I've been partying there religiously ever since! I really feel privileged that I live in a city that is so in tune to contemporary electronic music, a place where I get to see djs like Harri & Domenic, Twitch and Wilkes and Slam on a weekly time basis.

Anyone who knows me will know I am a house and techno girl, so this role has pretty much been a dream come true. I have been lucky enough to party with djs like Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Magda, Steve Bug, 2000 and one, Delano Smith, blah blah blah too many to list.

I plan to update this blog with loads of music/Sub Club chat.

Over the SEPT, OCT and NOV months we've booked Reboot, Magda, Marc Houle, Claude Von Stroke, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Funk, Kink and Neville Watson, Robert Dietz, Tensnake and Pan Pot. I hope that this excites some people and inspires you to party with me!

Here's a Sub Club favourite from this year you might recognise. It has been a huge hit since it's release in January only now just filtering it's way into the radio playlists. It will always remind me of the Garden Festival 2010 in Petrčane, Croatia. It's an absolute feel good summer classic.

Risto Bimbiloski scarf

My friend Alan Moore creates gorgeous hand dyed designs with his label ten30.co.uk I saw his A/W collection last night where it featured in the 'Nightwalk' fashion show in the Arches.  Here are some pix from the ten30 launch party held in the Oran Mor earlier this year. A 'stellar' performance! ha. Plus a few stolen from his website.

Although not exactly related to galaxy fashion, the colours in this video aren't far off. It's just too beautiful for me not to share. Enjoy...

SNEAKS OF THE MONTH - INFRA RED AIR MAX 90...obvs

The Holy Grail of kicks were re-released again last June. Nike's Infra Red Air Max 90 in grey, black and white have got to be Nike's most iconic design. Was it too soon to re-release them? some say yes. Whatever you think about em I'm pretty sure Justene Jaro could talk you into buying a pair.

FIRST POST - Charlie Le Mindu

I'm addicted to cutting my hair. Having not touched it for the last 6 months I look a lot like Pat Sharpe circa the 'Funhouse' years. I've promised my long suffering boyfriend that I won't cut, colour or shave any hairs on my head until I try looking more lady-like than dyke.

Whilst looking for some hairspiration I came across Charlie Le Mindu.

French born Charlie started his career aged 16 in a punk hairdressers salon in Bordeaux. He shaved both clients and their dogs. Unsatisfied, he moved to Berlin where he cut and styled the heads of the underground club scene. In 2009 Charlie moved to London where he is now one of the coolest cats in town cutting the tresses of artists such as Peaches, Lady Gaga, and Uffie. It was only when his fashion designer boyfriend asked him to make a wig for his collection that Charlie decided that wig making would become his specialism. Charlie has styled catwalk shows for Pam Hogg and recently presented his own collection at London Fashion Week.

Should I book an appointment? Eh mibbe not this week...lovin your work though Charlie. x
